Prof. Xander van Eck PhD
Xander van Eck (1962) is an art historian who originally specialized in the European Renaissance and Baroque, but currently focusses on art in Izmir around 1900. After graduating from Groningen University in 1983 and obataining an MA in Art History from Amsterdam University, he got his PhD at the Free University of Amsterdam in 1994. In that same year, he started working as a lecturer at Utrecht University. Thirteen years later he moved to Izmir to work as associate professor (from 2011 full professor) at the Fashion Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Izmir University of Economics. In the year 2013, he organized the exhibition ‘Traits of Tolerance: Religious Tolerance in the Golden Age’ in the Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht. In 2020, he transferred to the dept. of Industrial Design of Izmir Institute of Technology.
Prof. Karen Keifer-Boyd PhD
Karen Keifer-Boyd, Professor of Art Education and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Penn State University, co-authored several books: Including Difference (NAEA, 2013); InCITE, InSIGHT, InSITE (NAEA, 2008); Engaging Visual Culture (Davis, 2007); co-edited Lobby Activism (NAEA, 2021); Real-World Readings in Art Education (Falmer, 2000); and has more than 80 journal publications. Her research on feminist art pedagogy, transcultural dialogue, and eco-social justice art education has been translated and published in several countries. She is a recipient of a National Art Education Foundation grant (2017-2018) for social justice art education and a National Science Foundation grant (2010-2012) regarding gender barriers.
Prof. Dr. Semra Daşçı
İstanbul’da doğdu. 1995 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi, Edebiyat Fakültesi, Sanat Tarihi Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. İstanbul Üniversitesi, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Sanat Tarihi Anabilim Dalı’nda Avrupa resim sanatı konusunda 1997 yılında Yüksek Lisans, 2001 yılında Doktorasını tamamladı. 1999 yılında Ege Üniversitesi, Sanat Tarihi Bölümü, Batı Sanatı ve Çağdaş Sanat Anabilim Dalı’nda başlamış olduğu görevini sürdürmekte ve Avrupa Sanatı dersleri vermektedir. Avrupa Resminde Çocuk İmgesi (İmge 2008), Dersaadet’te Bir Türk Dostu: Francis Hopkinson Smith (1838-1915) (Bilge Kültür Sanat 2012) ve İzmir’de Oryantalist Ressamlar (İzelman 2022) adlı kitapları bulunmaktadır. 15-19 yüzyıl Avrupa resim sanatı, Oryantalizm, Osmanlı Türkiye’sine gelen yabancı sanatçı ve gezginler ile Osmanlı-Avrupa kültür sanat ilişkileri konularında çalışmakta, bu konularla ilgili çeşitli araştırma ve yayınları bulunmaktadır.
Christa Coogan
Christa Coogan is on the faculty of the Department of Elemental Music Pedagogy at the University for Music and Theater in Munich, Germany and was their outreach coordinator from 2015-2020 for work with refugee populations. Her extensive work with young people includes teaching dance and creating dance/music performances in schools and theaters throughout Germany. Christa taught at the Orff Institute (1993-2002), is on the faculty of the San Francisco Orff Course, and is a team member of the European Mentorship Programme in Orff Schulwerk Pedagogy. She was recently elected to the board of the International Orff Schulwerk Forum Salzburg. Christa teaches internationally as a movement specialist in Orff Schulwerk. Prof. Dr. Simber Rana Atay
She was born in Gaziantep. She graduated from Egean University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Cinema-TV Department. Undergraduate thesis: “Kemal Sunal Comedy” (1980). Master Thesis: “Early Photography and Ottoman Photographers” (1983); Doctoral Thesis: “Approaches in Turkish Film Criticism” (1990). She is currently the Head of the Department of Photography at Dokuz Eylul University, Fine Arts Faculty. She taught also at Anadolu University, Faculty of Communication Sciences in 2006-2011. Research Interests: Theories of Photography, Postmodern Cinema, Philosophy of Distance Education. Courses: Theories of Photography I-II (Undergraduate), Cyber Culture and Visual Arts (Master’s), Intertextuality and Visual Arts I-II (Sufficiency in Art), Post-Truth Age and Photographic Art (PhD), Postmodernism and Cinema (PhD), Cultural Memory and Cinema (PhD).
Gabriela Karin Konkol PhD
Gabriela Karin Konkol, PhD, associate professor at the Faculty of Choral Conducting, Church Music, Artistic Education, Eurhythmics and Jazz of the Stanislaw Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdansk, Poland. Author of the European Integration – Bologna Process. Implications for Music Education monograph, over 40 articles and chapters in books in the field of music education. Member of the Editorial Board of The Journal of Music Education (Ljubljana) and Školski vjesnik – Journal for Pedagogic Theory and Practice (Split). Lecturer/workshop leader in many European countries and also in Israel, Russia and Turkey. Jury member of international music competitions and Olympiad. Member of ISME. Elected European Association for Music in Schools board member (2009-2013). EAS National Coordinator for Poland.
Doç. Dr. Hüseyin Sami Sözüer
1958 yılında Salihli’de doğan Sami Sözüer 1983 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Fizik Bölümünden mezun olmuştur. Doktorasını 1992 yılında Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Wyoming Üniversitesinde tamamlayan Sözüer, doktora sonrası çalışmalarını 1992-1994 yıllarında New York Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Rensselaer Polytechnic Enstitüsünde, 1994-1995 yıllarında ise Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Mississippi Devlet Üniversitesinde gerçekleştirmiştir. Optik, Fotonik kristaller, fotonik kristal dalga klavuzları ve parallel hesaplama alanlarında çalışmakta olan Sözüer, 1997-1999 yılları arasında Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Fizik Bölümünde, 1999 yılından beri de İzmir Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsü Fen Fakültesi Fizik Bölümünde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır. Amerika Optik Topluluğu üyesi olan Sözüer, Optik, Klasik Mekanik, Kuantum Mekaniği ve Fotonik Yapılar derslerini yürütmektedir.
